The Coos Bay to UK team host a Bike Tour in conjunction with the Bay Area Fun Festival

On September 18, 2005 the Coos Bay to UK team hosted a Bay Area Bike tour in conjunction with the Bay Area Fun Festival.  This was touted to be a scenic ride of the east bay area of Coos Bay and North Bend.  There were three ride options including a 20K, 50K, and 100k distances. 

The ride began at 9:00 with twenty riders.  The riders varied in ages from the teens to the seventies.  There was even a rider visiting from Germany.  The Coos Bay Police Department provided a police escort through downtown and into Eastside.  With the lights and sirens sounding, this was a very special start to the event.   The ride traveled on a loop around East Bay drive and up North Coos River Route to the area around Gold and Silver Falls.  There were two different supply stations along the route providing the riders with much needed water and snacks.  The event concluded back at the Coos Bay Boardwalk and the riders got to enjoy the great sunny weather and Fun Festival activities for the remainder of the day. 

This event was a fundraiser to benefit the Coos Bay to UK team as they prepare for their trip to the United Kingdom next may.  Many of the team riders collected pledges and sponsorships for the ride.  Additionally, they accepted donations and kicked offtheir raffle ticket sales.  As a result of the days events, the team raised in excess of $800.
