CBCoos Bay to UK received as big presentation fro the Bobby on a Bike Team

On June 22nd Neil, Tony, Chris, Jeff, and Matthew returned to Coos Bay on the way back to the UK.  This time they did not ride though town they arrived in a motor home.  They spent the day practicing their shooting skills at the firing range.  This was a treat for them because they do not carry guns as a regular part of their duties as police officers.

In the afternoon, they gave the Coos Bay to UK team a big surprise by leaving two of their Trek bikes for training and to ride back to them when they ride across the UK next May.  This was a big relief to the team to get such a presentation because they were wondering how they were going to come up with enough bikes for the team to train and to complete their journey.  Their only obligation is to return them at the end of the project.

cbOriginally, the Trek bicycles were donated to the Bobby on a Bike team for their ride.  If these bikes could talk they would have quite a story to tell.  They have both been ridden several thousand miles in preparation for the 1800 miles they were ridden from Canada to Mexico.  The training miles were all over the UK prior to coming to the states.  While in the United States, they got to see all the beautiful scenery from Canada to Mexico traveling mostly along the beautiful Pacific Coast.    In some towns along the journey, they received a “hero’s” welcome getting police escorts through town and all of the fan fare to go along with the lights and siren experience.

The Coos Bay to UK team was very excited to receive the bikes and were happy to accept the responsibility to return them at the conclusion of their trip.  The day concluded with the Coos Bay to UK team hosting a barbeque for the Bobby on a Bike team.
